Towers are tall thrown vases made in three parts and assembled, and are either porcelain or stoneware.  Surfaces are drawn in complex compositions with black shapes, map-like drawing, and lines resembling masses of wire or river paths.

The porcelain slip on the stoneware forms is applied in a variety of ways, from thick and swirling, to brushed on with wide strokes to create a look of being wrapped, to carefully brushed smoothly in smaller shaped areas.  Each process creates a different type of layer that the viewer can interpret.
